My childcare didn’t show up again today
That’s the problem with hiring family. There’s always a reason — a very good reason usually — but if she weren’t family, I’d be looking elsewhere.
Fortunately, today was going to be a bust anyway because we have seventy-zillion other things to do so missing a day of work shouldn’t be a huge big deal. Brett is finishing up the kitchen floor (he has the week off) and Noah has soccer camp and Madison and I have a date at my mom’s.
Just knowing that I have childcare (even childcare that so far I haven’t been able to count on) has made me feel less crazy. I can’t imagine how great it’ll be when I’m released from this familial contract and can hire an actual person who wants the job come fall. Imagine the possibilities!
I am (mostly) caught up on work work (that is — work that pertains to my actual job) and so I was going to use the childcare for the following to-do list items:
–Helping Noah go through each and every small toy in his entire room in an effort to actually get his room clean from the roots out;
–Sit down with Noah and figure out what homeschool supplies we’ll likely need in the year upcoming;
–Attack an essay that’s been rotting in my “incomplete” folder;
–Brainstorm for two markets that intrigue me.
She’ll be here (theoretically) on Thursday and Friday so hopefully I can get busy then.

while i’m already impressed with your organizational skills, i’ll be even more impressed if you actually get your to do list done LOL whenever i have childcare set up so i can “actually get something done” i never actually do it. i spend the day enjoying the peace and quiet and the lack of someone screaching “mooooommmmmyyyyyyyyy, i have to peeeee” just as i shut the bathroom door or asking me for one more thing JUST as i sit down to eat my lunch. no, i spend my days with childcare enjoying the sound of silence *cue music*
