So this thing is coming along
Feb 21, 2005 Parenting, Writing
Slowly but surely. I have 1000 words towards a fresh start that might actually work (I have four or five other starts that have been rejected). Noah and I went to the bookstore to work while Madison and Brett went to buy Brett pants. Then we all came home and ate lunch then Noah and I went to the library for more work while Madison and Brett took naps. 1000 words. That’s all I have but it’s more than I had yesterday.
This is the part where I’m getting stuck: I don’t know how to convey the whole antiadoption experience without just quoting a whole bunch. So that’s what I’m working on.
Latest Madison words: dancing, music, book and (drumroll) Daddy! Oh and cracker.
Now playing on iTunes: “As We Sleep” from the album Bright Red Tightrope by Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Brian Eno

1000 words sound like a heck of a lot to me. What’s the goal?
And lots of quotes is a good thing, don’t you think? As long as you balance it with analysis?
I would love to see this piece–in progress or finished.
