Noah’s a ski bunny
Jan 25, 2005 Parenting
Noah joined the homeschool ski club with his Gram and Gramps and today marked his second time out there. He likes it and I hear that he’s determined to get good. He was explaining how to turn, stop and go faster to me to try to convince me to ski, too, but skiing’s not really my thing. I like the ground firm beneath my feet, thanks, but I’m awfully glad he’s getting the opportunity to do it.
It’s weird to me because kids in ski club were all the “rich” kids in my high school and here’s my apparently enormously privileged son skiing with his grandparents. He’s white, he’s male and he skis! If he’s straight and takes up golf, why, he could take over the world!
He and his instructor bonded because they’re both fans of Keeping Up Appearances. Apparently they spent some time trading lines:
“Mind the pedestrian, Richard!”
and
“The Bucket [pronounced "bouquet"] residence! Lady of the house speaking! Oh it’s you, Violet!”
And here Noah is hurtling down the slopes! Well, actually he’s holding on to the tow line but if you play it backwards, it’s like he’s going downhill.

Noah could be the trojan horse of American politics! sneak in as a skiing white boy, and then BAM! hit them with the progressive values! and homeschooling! and feminism! and interracial family!
I love this plan!

he’s so cute, Dawn. But skiing! Really, how burgeouis! Hey, did I spell “burgeouis” right? Cause I don’t think I did!

I never skied (is THAT even spelled right?)
growing up either, but did get gung ho into x-country (lost tons of weight too) and miss it terribly. I need to go buy some used skis.
Noah looks like a natural…
HOW did you get the password thingy for pictures, I would like that for my photos.
(I did get a password to see your photos-thank you!)

We also like the Judy Dench one … As Time Goes By, I think?
And, I love what Jackie said about Noah being the trojan horse LOL

Off topic but…
I’m going to take it that you not posting in almost 3 days means you’re hard at work on your article. Good for you.
