Google sticks to ‘Jew’ search, amid protests - The Times of India

Google Inc the leading Internet search engine, said Monday that it had no plans to alter its search results despite complaints that the first listing on a search for the word “Jew” directs people to an anti-Semitic Web site.

  1. though I did notice just now that if you type in ‘jew’ now, wikipedia is number one, not that other site, so either the googlebombing is working or google gave it a nudge.

    and google has an explantion of their search results in a special ‘offensive search results’ page that is linked at the top when you search ‘jew’

    i suggest we start googlebombing both the wikipedia url AND the next good one down the list to start pushing it completely off the front page.

  5. I can see Google’s point. If they start deliberately skewing their search results, it sets an awful precedent. It’s the bigots who should be blamed here, not Google. Under the circumstances, I think inserting a page on “Offensive Search Results” was the best option.
