Cheap candles

Noah and I went to Kohl’s yesterday for new towels since Brett sorta kinda ruined most of ours in the great bathroom refurbish (new sinks, new bathtub, new tile, new toilet). They were having an 80% off all Christmas supplies sale and so we picked up a bunch of new candles.
I’ve been burning a candle everyday for the birth mom who will choose us; those things get expensive. The ones at Kohl’s were priced right and are extra-special, too, because the three we got are covered in glitter — gold, silver and a really beautiful sage green. They also aren’t stinky, which is nice. A stinky candle can be a fine thing except when it’s not. During dinner for example or if I’m baking bread. Anyway, having a candle lit makes me feel more calm and also reminds me to send out a prayer for her everytime I pass it.

I bet it would be kind of like putting together an art portfolio–you are presenting your family and life to a woman who might want to choose you as the ones for her child.
With an art portfolio, they say it is best not to put more than 12 well-chosen images in, any more will overwhelm and be distracting. You’d want just enough stuff for the viewer to feel safe and comfortable with you, but not so much that they feel trapped.
The pink album should be extra good–because you can say, proudly, “Noah choose the book for you,” and even if she doesn’t go for the pink and glitter, she will see the love you have for your child.
