Being matched again
Jan 29, 2004 Adoption
It was nice getting the call on Noah’s birthday. The kids were running screaming down the hall when I was talking to Denise (our social worker) but it’s not like that’s something she can’t understand (she has four kids herself). Also a bunch of my friends (and my sister!) were here to get excited with me. Later that night, one of them indulged me in looking at all of the baby clothes we’ve got collected.
April seems a long way off and of course a lot can change in that time. The wait, of course, is going to be really hard. The nice thing is that I have a theoretical deadline to get some things off of my desk if J. does stick with her adoption plan. And if she chooses to parent, at least we won’t have the holidays to deal with like we did the last time. We should be getting her social/medical history in the mail probably over the weekend. Our precall was fairly detailed but it’s neat to get all of these random facts like her height, for example, and her hobbies.
I don’t really have much more to say about it. It’s nice to be matched but I harbor no delusions. I’m looking forward to meeting her next week and I’m much less nervous than I was last time.
Noah has an awful blustery cold and so I kept him home from his homeschool stuff today. He’s a little bummed about that. Fortunately he has those new birthday toys and books that are keeping us both busy.

Congratulations! If that’s the appropriate word — I know there’s still things to worry about, but I so hope this one works out for you!

That’s great news! I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you… I’ll go cross Jackson’s too.

Good luck, Dawn! Spring would be a great time for a new baby (OK, ANYtime would be a great time)! By the way, I like the new background on your site!!

Oh Dawn how wonderful! I hope this is “it” we will get our babies around the same time!
Blessings!
