Capricorns

So seven years ago at around this time I told the little baby in my belly that I wouldn’t mind sharing my birthday if s/he wanted to come on out early. Noah declined politely and waited another couple of weeks. Anyway, I’m making that same offer (casting my eyes to the heavens) and saying, “Hey, baby, if you wanted to show up this Sunday, I’ll save you a piece of cake!”

  1. Happy (early) Birthday, fellow Cap!

btw - Are you following the adoption theme on “Friends”?

  2. My little Capricorn was born five years ago today! He shares his birthday with Jimmy Page, so we listened to Led Zeppelin LOUD in the car on the way home from preschool.

  3. I just found your blog today, and have been looking through your archives. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it, and how much it resonated. I realized that I’m going through some infertility grief right now, even though I get pregnant easily. But I had a difficult pregnancy and developed rheumatoid arthritis postpartum. I don’t think I can take care of another child and it makes me very sad. I think, “Well it would have been horrible if I hadn’t been able to have one child, but I did, so shouldn’t that be enough? I’m luckier than many.” Reading your writing has made me realize how mean that is, and give myself a break. So, thanks. And, I wish the best of possible luck with your upcoming child, whoever he or she turns out to be.

  4. Like Roni I’m wondering if you’re watching Friends… I watched the new episode last night and was somewhat aghast at how it was handled. Just curious about the reaction of someone who is actually in the middle of the adoption process. Now I’m off to read Carrie’s blog to see if maybe she said something…

Oh, and happy almost birthday! We’re celebrating my mom and my brother’s birthday on Sunday (though their actual bday’s are the 7th and the 15th). We’re a family chock full of Capricorns, including, of course, my new baby. :-) You’ve got good company.
