counter easy hit

This is for Trey

It’s not a recent picture, obviously, because Noah was, ummm, 2 1/2 in that picture. It’s the one they used for the editor’s letter at ePregnancy this month. I don’t have many recent pics because I’m always the one behind the camera. Also, I thought the whole Halloween theme was nice.

I’m really not in the least techie

And I don’t really have aspirations to be more techie but I would like to figure out how to make my site look better. I’m going to be playing around with it for a bit. It’s pretty much looked like this since I switched to moveable type and I’m kinda out for something new.

It’s chilly here

I love fall. I love fall weather and I love fall wardrobes. I also think it’s easier to cook in the fall because there’s still enough produce but it’s also cool enough to bake and do casseroles or heavy bean soups.

Last night I got such a wave of baby hunger that I thought that I might actually be able to force a baby to appear from somewhere. This was hot on the heels of another bout of ambivalence and wondering if another baby was a good idea seeing as how we’re so happy. The answer? Yes! It’s a marvelous idea! Because if we don’t do this, I’ll forever regret it.

Work is feeling more comfortable now that I’m in a routine and have a group of dependable, talented writers regularly turning stuff in. I have everything edited and arranged into folders for easy upload to the tech people when it comes time to do an update. I think about the early weeks when I was getting tons of submissions and not really knowing what was going on and am relieved to find that all that craziness has distilled into a manageable bunch of busywork. I also think the front page of the site looks really nice and am impressed with how hard the tech person works. No matter how petty a request, she’s always cheerful and willing to do what she can to get things in order.

All in all, I think that a baby will fit into our life without me having to lose my job or even take a leave. This has much to do with the quality of the people willing to write for us; I know that what they turn in is going to be good and won’t require major editing. Very nice.

At temple today

We went to hear the shofar and it was a pretty good service. The rabbi told a funny story with props and the mood was jubiliant if a little stressed (all of those parents trying to keep small children somewhat quiet).

I can’t tell you all what a huge giant good feeling it gives me to watch Noah singing along to “A Tree of Life” or mumbling the Hebrew. I don’t know where his spiritual journey will lead him but knowing that his roots will always be in Judaism — that those songs will always sound like home — means a great deal to me.
