Noah is very happy
Aug 29, 2003 Parenting
Brett and I were discussing this last night. Why is Noah so happy? Are we doing something right and if so what? He’s not one of those sunny, cheery children who dance and sing their way through life; no, he’s not happy like a Shirley Temple heroine. This is deeper happiness, a contented sigh of the soul that permeates his bad moods and grouch fests.
Noah was a very, very serious baby. He was never one of those giggly flirtatious babies that are so fun to show-off. In fact, he was the kind of baby that obliged me to apologize to friendly folks who were hurt by his infant brush-off. Even now, he’s hard pressed to be friendly so we settle for polite. But he’s happy. He likes himself. He’s confident without being cocky.
Whatever happens to him in the future, it’s this core of who he is that will see him through. That comforts me.

I’ve bene reading your site for a bit now-off and on and this entry finally got me to comment.
Those are some of the greatest words ever-knowing that your child will be at peace. Bravo to you.
