I’m gonna throw up
B-Stik –”Nothing but the sting!”
It is the first and only alternative discipline device for children designed specifically to avoid harm or injury which can often occur as a result of physical discipline with the belt, strap, switch, hand or anything that may harm or injure a child when physically correcting their misconduct.

Oh my gosh how awful! :-*(
Reminds me — tangentially but it’s been on my mind, I guess — of a scene I witnessed in a restaurant the other day. A mom slapped her kid on the hand and said, “That’ll teach you! Never hit your sister!” Um, yeah. That should get the message across.
Apparently spanking is back in style. If, in fact, it ever left. Gah.
“Low to high force impact” and *”alternative discipline device”* ?! In fact, I think there are so many things wrong with this, I don’t even know where to begin.
Instead, I think I’ll throw up with you, Dawn.
What in the world…. I’ve never found a situation yet that required me to physically discipline my children. A good flip of my head will usually do the trick…. why oh why would I need to purchase an item to discipline my children. INSANE!

Disgusting!
Why not simply use a cattle prod?
(These people can’t be serious. Right?)
To approach such a violent act in such a cold, calculated manner is beyond nauseating. Please tell me this is another web hoax.
egad.
so it’s like a billy club for the little ones? And no, I DON’T see how this would be different from hitting the kid with a belt or a switch cut from a tree…it’s still violent.
(my initial thought from the name was that it was like a Tazer or other shock delivering device, which is worse, but not much)
the really sad irony is that the website has a little note that “April is Child Abuse Prevention Month” in the sidebar.
I dearly hope this is a hoax.
Oh my god. I thought that site was a joke at first. In poor taste, but a joke. That’s horrifying.
I’m with Barbara: please tell me it’s a hoax. This sounds like an instrument of torture and there are enough monsters out there who will use it as such. It’s shocking.
This product wasn’t intended for people who do not believe in physical discipline; obviously…it’s intended for those that do to do it safely. I don’t think people give much thought to serious situations that seem to be all around them.
Children, not yours as I see, are being harmed and injured every second of every of every day (”makes ME want to throw up!”). Get a grip on reality, this is a safer alternative to conventional methods that are and will continue to be practiced my millions of parents in this country.
It’s a very soft pliable device that absorbs most of the impact leaving just a mild stinging sensation, ooh that sounds so terrible. As I read your nauseating comments, I believe you people rather have these wonderful children be subjected to the awful conventional means available to parents today, especially the hand, the most dangerous that just happens to have been created by God.
I wish you all the best!

Let’s get real here. I’m glad that all of you have perfect children, however there are plenty of children that are out of control these days. I’ve read the B-stik web site completely and feel that the inventor is trying to help both parents and children. If you take the time to research the information instead of jumping to conclusions you will see that he is trying to protect the children. There are plenty of parents who believe physical discipline. Here is a way for “those parents” to do so without harm. I was physically disciplined as a child and feel it has had no negative results on my life what so ever. The fact that you can relate this to a hoax or a joke considering the seriousness of the subject makes me want to “Throw up”.
HELL in a hand-basket –that IS where we’re going
No matter IF parents will hit their kidlets, one does NOT need to MAKE a product to help them discipline. It’s like saying - people WILL rape, so make it kindler/gentler. A myriad of *inventions* that have been made to *help* make me feel physically sick and heart-broken!
People here (Katherine!) are NOT saying their kids are perfect angels, but that one need not whip a child into submission. Time and talk, tenderness and LOVE work just fine.
Anger issues, Katherine?
What I think is what about the emotional damage hitting a child can do? It don’t matter what you hit them with, either be a fist or a soft pliable device it still damages them emotionally and mentally. To all those that think that physical discipline didn’t damage them, really think about it. I’m sure that it did.
Andy:
I see you were brainwashed very well by the book pushing child psychiatrists. Get real, millions of Americans were physically disciplined as a child and not psychologically affected by it, it’s a myth! They need topics like that to sell more books. Research the surveys!
Eli:
Rape; you have serious issues…seek help! “Time and talk, tenderness and LOVE work just fine.†Tell that to my son that is sitting in jail. I never physically disciplined him, wish I had and so does he. Dr. Spock era again— Let’s get back to reality!

Okay, can I just say - sorry as I am that someone’s son is sitting in jail - I think you would find that he is the exception in that he was never ‘physically disciplined’. When will the prospank crowd ever give up their myth of their children being the only well-behaved children out there (and that those children never get into trouble)? I am an aunt to 5 teen-agers and young adults who have never been smacked, and all are pleasant, successful young people. My own two are still little, but are happy, responsive, well-mannered kids.
Yeah. It was the child psychiatrists that were trying to sell me a book. That was what did it. Idiot.
Lots of kids get hit all the time. True.
Lots of those kids grow up fine. True.
Or is it? Were you ever hit? How does that make you feel?
nothing but the sting
Speechless and chastened. [via Chicken or Beef?] The inventor of the B-Stik responded in a comment on the This Woman’s…
