Avoiding work

I have so much work to do but I’m finding all sorts of busy little things to do instead. Things such as making a blog entry when I have absolutely nothing to say.

Noah had t-ball practice today. It’s a co-ed league but there aren’t any girls on his team. It’s always interesting when I see other boys Noah’s age because he has these mannerisms that I think are part of his personality but are really about being a 6-year old boy. For example, many boys his age greet each other by making a face and falling down. Or making a face and hitting themselves in the head and then falling down. I don’t know why. He can’t explain why. They just do it. His female friends don’t seem to do this as much. They’re silly, too, but not as prone to pratfalls. He and Alex, on the other hand, can spend hours randomly dropping to the ground in heaps. All the boys on the t-ball team were doing this, too, especially towards the end of practice when they were getting bored.

  1. Omgosh Dawn, I totally thought it was just MY kids that did that! They are constantly hitting themselves in the head and falling down. I was beginning to worry about them.

  2. OMG, my Noah too! He’s just 5, but the head-bumping, falling down thing…how weird. He even got Rebekah into the act, and I really worry she’s going to hurt herself. I wonder if kids in other cultures do this?

  3. LOL - They are (boys) absolutely, wonderfully odd creatures eh? - This IS the official greeting, yep!

  4. I don’t remember doing this when I was 6! Must have knocked the memory out of my head.
