Oh I’m tired!
Apr 4, 2003 Writing
I have to remind myself that when I’m this tired, everything seems awful. I’m working on an article that’s due today. I have 500 more words to go to meet the count and I look at it and can’t even imagine adding another word. I hear Noah singing in the family room and I think about what a neglectful awful mother I am and how until I get this damn article done, I can’t do anything with him. I feel discouraged and overwhelmed and miserable. But then I remember that I’m really really tired and things aren’t nearly as bad as my exhaustion is making them out to be.
So I go and get another cup of coffee. Ah, coffee!!! I sing its praises! Tra-la-la! Everything is better when you have coffee!!! Until the caffeine leaves your system, that is. Then all you have is your broken coffee dreams and a mug with a brown stain at the bottom. (See what I mean? My attitude could use some improvement.)
I’m going to be finalizing my new job towards the end of April. I have to fly out and stay overnight and part of me is really excited and another part of me is already missing Noah. He and Brett will stay with Brett’s parents so that Noah will be with them while Brett’s at work. I know they’ll be fine but I know I’m going to be guilt-ridden and homesick.
Well, I’ll do what guilt-stricken mothers have done for centuries; I’ll meet him at the airport with a shiny new toy!

You’re all right! How did I live without this before? I knew it was great from being on my mom’s computer but having it at home, well, I don’t think I could ever go back to dial-up. It’s already saving me time because I can do something in five minutes that used to take me fifteen. And I don’t have to connect every time I want a quick glance at my email; that’s saving an enormous amount of time.
Lovely!
