Home businesses

I talked to my bosses at ePregnancy about writing up a monthly blurb featuring a product made by a home business. This is the letter I wrote to APBiz looking for interested parties:
I’m an associate editor for ePregnancy Magazine, a monthly magazine targeted to pregnant moms. We want to start featuring one Made by Mom (or Dad) item in each issue. The item will be featured next to a 75 — 100+ word paragraph extolling its virtues and pointing readers to the businesses web page or 1-800 number. It was also include the creator’s name so it will look something like this (and yes, I mean this to be silly!):Made by Mom
This lush polartec nursing bra is just the thing for the breastfeeding mother living in a cold climate! Made by Jane Doe, mom to 3, the Fluffy Busty Bra retails for $28.00 plus shipping and handling. Jane makes the bras in all sorts of festive colors including the exciting paisley pattern you see at right. The nursing flaps stay securely closed with giant blue plastic buttons that are not only useful, they’re also downright startling! You can check out the Fluffy Busty Bra and other gorgeous treats for mom and babe at Jane’s website: http://www.boy-are-my-breasts-toasty-warm.com or call her at 1-800-555-5555We’re looking for goods that are helpful to pregnant moms, new babies, and post-partum mamas. It can take awhile for the blurb to appear (right now we’re working on the February issue, I think?) so I ask that you consider where your business might be in the next 6 months to a year and whether or not you’ll still be carrying that item.
If you’re interested in sending us a sample of your work, please write me! And feel free to pass this on to any other great WAHM/D businesses.
So if you know anyone with a home business who has a unique made-by-mom (or dad) product (even if s/he doesn’t make it herself but just sells them), please share this opportunity with him/her. I don’t know what our circulation numbers are but ePregnancy is a real live glossy mag that gets handed out at healthcare providers offices and is also available at lots of retail outlets so I do know that it reaches a ton of people.
