I finished and it was wonderful

I gulped it down, barely tasting it, just getting the scent of it towards the end and it was *wonderful.* I highly recommend it. I think it would be lovely to read it and then go rent Wings of Desire (*not* the shoddy Meg Ryan/Nic Cage remake).

Binging
Sep 13, 2002 Read/heard/seen
I finally got The Lovely Bones from the library yesterday (I’ve been on the waiting list awhile) and started reading at around 10:30pm last night. I finally put the book down when I was starting to fall asleep during sentences at about 1:30pm. I am now trying to figure out how I can get Noah to let me read the rest and still have time to accomplish everything I need to before we pick his friend up at 1pm for a zoo trip.
There were a couple of people who said they identified with my binge reading entry on my 100 things so I know you’ll get my *need* to finish this book no matter what the consequences. Must go. The book is calling.

Someone emailed me asking where yesterday’s kaddish page went. I put it here.

My thin facade
Sep 12, 2002 Judaism
Like Drublood, I am waiting for the world to explode. I’ve always been waiting for the tanks to rumble down my street. When Noah was brand new (and even now, late at night), I would try to figure out how I would hide him if modern day Cossacks broke down my door. I pictured myself grabbing him to me and rolling us both down off the bed, onto the floor, shoving him under the bed.
“Don’t make a sound!” I saw myself whispering before I’m snatched away from him.
My father, being a Jew born in 1937, has always had an intense interest in WWII. I grew up on holocaust stories. The holocaust happened to ordinary people. All holocausts happen to ordinary people. I never thought we were immune but I hope that I am proven wrong.

Thank heavens for friends

The 9/11 open house was lovely. Thankfully the food turned out well and everyone (but one, who had a sick kid) showed up and some people showed up twice (after picking siblings up from kindergarten)! I’m very grateful to have such nice people in my life.
