Last night while Brett was at work, Noah and I watched Strictly Ballroom, which he enjoyed. I love that movie. I love the part at the end where the guy slides across the dance floor on his knees in those tight black pants… Where was I? Oh yes, Noah thought it was very funny.
A friend once told me that I had the musical taste of a gay man and I was very complimented. (It’s all those show tunes and Judy Garland CDs.) I want to instill those same aesthetic values in Noah and so I’ve been indoctrinating him with showtunes since he was in utero. At two he could belt out “Hey Big Spender” with the best of ‘em. His current favorite musical is The Music Man. Honest to god, he and his friend get together on their playdates and dance to “Marian the Librarian.” (I told a friend this and she said wryly, “Good thing you’re homeschooling.”)

Hey, Josie and Noah should get together–it’s her favorite musical too! She sings “Gary Indiana” at the drop of a hat, though the only words she remembers are “Gary Indiana”.
