Hitting you up again

You know that article I said I thought was due September 1st? Well, it is so I thought that maybe I should get a move on it. It’s called “When Everybody Hates Your Baby Name” and it’s for ePregnancy. If anybody *did* hate your baby names, please let me know so I can hit you up for a short but sweet email interview.

  1. My mother hated my children’s names because she could not pronounce them, really didn’t even try at first, thought they should have been easier for her-lol! She called my first son “the baby” for a long while, think he was three before she perfected it. Ah well….God rest her soul ;-) The important thing to me is they know how to say their names well (they do) and each other’s and know what they mean and why they were given the names.

  2. Ooh, did some people hate the names we picked! My mom has one friend who kept coming up with vulgar nicknames that she swore “everyone” would use if we gave our children those names. We finally stopped telling her what we were thinking about.

On a funny note, one of Corrie’s friends freaked out when we told her Sagan’s name. It turns out she thought we said, “Sadan” and couldn’t figure out what kind of person would name their child something that sounded just like “Satan”. She was very relieved to find out he was named after Carl Sagan, lol.

  3. Yep–MIL has expressed her dislike for the names we’ve given two of our children. You may email me if you’d like.

  4. Nobody seemed to like my daughter’s name- Beckett Cherie- and it still gets’ really odd reactions. I love it- it’s unique, like my child, which is why I chose it. She gets some compliments on it, now; it seems ot be the sort of name people either love or hate.

  5. I was sitting on the john reading my new copy of Epregnancy when I almost fell on the floor. Husband and I thought we were the only ones in the world naming our Child “Sagan” after Carl Sagan. My best friend named her little girl Maya. When I read that article called ” when people hate your baby names”, I called her up and told her to go get the magazine at first daylight- just for that one paragraph. I am actually thrilled to hear there are other Sagans out there. We honestly thought we had come up with that one all by ourselves.
